Synopsis: We are honored to welcome Arturo Ripstein to Austin and to present his most recent feature, BLEAK STREET (2015), a skid row story of elderly prostitutes, little-people wrestlers, and murder that proves that Ripstein’s strong interest in the outsider, and his filmmaking powers, are as strong as ever.

Synopsis: In Mexico City’s wealthiest neighborhoods, the Ochoa family runs a private ambulance, competing with other for-profit EMTs for patients in need of urgent help. About the Film: DANZÓN is a 1991 film directed by the renowned Mexican director María Novaro and starring María Rojo. It was nominated by the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences to the Ariel Award for Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Score. It was considered in the number 45 spot among the 100 best Mexican films of all time by "Somos" magazine. Currently, María Novaro serves as the general director of the Mexican Film Institute director (IMCINE).
