About the Film: DANZÓN is a 1991 film directed by the renowned Mexican director María Novaro and starring María Rojo. It was nominated by the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences to the Ariel Award for Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Score. It was considered in the number 45 spot among the 100 best Mexican films of all time by "Somos" magazine. Currently, María Novaro serves as the general director of the Mexican Film Institute director (IMCINE).
