A documentary with an intimate and sensitive perspective that exposes the “secret owners” of the nation of Candomblé Jeje, a tradition that is under the threat of extinction. The film invites the matriarchs of the tradition of Vodun in Bahia for their first encounter with the “Motherland” Africa. The film explores female protagonism in the Jeje Mahi tradition, through transatlantic bridges between Bahia (Brazil) and Benin (Africa). The Jeje Mahi tradition is part of the of Afro-Brazilian spirituality and way of life.
