Reminiscent of WAITING FOR SUGARMAN, GRINGO ROJO follows Dean Reed, a North American singer who became a massive pop idol during the 1950s and 1960s in Chile and the Americas. There, he went through a surprising and unlikely political transformation that earned him the title of “Red Elvis.”

Biofilmography

Miguel Ángel VidaurreMiguel Angel Vidaurre was born in 1969 in Santiago, Chile. He studied Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University and Theory and Art History at the Universidad de Chile. Vidaurre made three films around the fantastic genre: CORAZON SECRETO, OSCURO/ILUMINADO and LIMBUS. In 2012, he released his first documentary, MARKER 72 on the visit of the documentary filmmaker Chris Marker to Chile in 1972. He is currently in the research stages for the documentary series THE CHILDREN OF THE FUHRER, which explores the Nazi presence in Chile.
