Synopsis: We are honored to welcome Arturo Ripstein to Austin and to present his most recent feature, BLEAK STREET (2015), a skid row story of elderly prostitutes, little-people wrestlers, and murder that proves that Ripstein’s strong interest in the outsider, and his filmmaking powers, are as strong as ever.

EL CASTILLO DE LA PUREZA (THE CASTLE OF PURITY) is a 1973 film directed by Arturo Ripstein. One of Mexico's most distinguished and renowned film directors, Mr. Ripstein himself will be our special guest, who will introduce his film and answer audience questions.

Synopsis: In Mexico City’s wealthiest neighborhoods, the Ochoa family runs a private ambulance, competing with other for-profit EMTs for patients in need of urgent help. Synopsis: 1986. Mexico City. Seventeen-year-old Carlos doesn't fit in anywhere: not in his family nor with the friends he has chosen in school. But everything changes when he is invited to a mythical nightclub where he discovers the underground nightlife scene: post punk, sexual liberty, and drugs that challenges the relationship with his best friend Gera and lets him find his passion for art.
