Synopsis: The Forbidden Shore explores the myriad forms of contemporary music being played in Cuba, through the extraordinary and unlimited access filmmaker Ron Chapman has had to the streets, the people, the musicians, and the stories of contemporary Cuba.
Viva Cinema celebrates the modern cinema of Mexico and beyond. The Bullock Museum is proud to highlight acclaimed films in partnership with Cine Las Americas that feature the rich tradition of Spanish-language and Hispanic-heritage movie-making.
We are pleased to announce the film lineup for the CLA2020 Virtual Showcase presented by the Cine Las Americas International Film Festival (CLAIFF) & the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (ESB-MACC). Taking place on consecutive weekends, July 16-19 and July 23-26, the virtual event will present 49 films (7 features, 32 shorts, and 10 music videos) hailing from 12 different countries. All films and videos presented in the CLA2020 Virtual Showcase will be offered free of charge, with prior registration, and all will be eligible for Audience Awards in their respective categories.

Synopsis: In 1973 by pure chance, the eleven year old Miguelito was discovered singing in the San Juan airport by the legendary New York record producer Harvey Averne. Within the year he went from the slums of Manuel A Perez, to recording an album with some of the finest salsa musicians of the time, to finally performing with Eddie Palmieri at Madison Square Garden in front of 20,000 people. And then he simply disappeared.
