About the Film
SANTITOS (LITTLE SAINTS) is a 1999 film by Mexican film director, Alejandro Springall, the first film he directed. The LA Times described the film as “pure enchantment, a beguiling tale of love, faith and self-discovery told in a colorful, effortless folkloric style by Alejandro Springall.” It is based on the novel SANTITOS, by María Amparo Escandón. LITTLE SAINTS won the Best Latin American Film award at the Sundance Film Festival and Best Film Award at the Los Angeles Latino Films Festival, among other accolades, and has been widely distributed.
