WATITA tells the story of a Quechua couple, Katy and Victor, who are on their way to the ominous Mining City above the mountains. The couple meets Watita, a young girl who helps her grandfather run an old hostel. After the couple decides to spend the night there, Katy discovers Victor’s true reasons for wanting to take this sudden trip. Now she must weigh the importance of her various loyalties — to her husband, her tradition and her own principles — under a new light. In the director’s native Peru, WATITA had a successful screening at the 18th Lima Film Festival and received an Honorable Mention at Filmocorto 2013.
