ALMOST CRIMES is the story of two young men and the decisions they are driven to make when they try to rob a South Texas cash loans office targeted towards Latino immigrants. Sam, an outsider, has nothing to lose but the haunting desire to escape his small town solitude. Jack is the town’s prodigal son and Sam’s closest friend, so when Sam asks him for his help with the heist, he can’t refuse. Jack has other reasons for wanting to escape but he has a lot more to lose than Sam does. Ultimately both will have to face their feelings for each other as they realize that sometimes desire stands in the way of loyalty, and that there are still many miles left between the town and the city. Because, as they know, we can only play the cards we are dealt and, when push comes to shove, we take our love wherever we can find it.
