Experience five days of incredible films, red carpets, and special events at the 28th annual Cine Las Americas International Film Festival (CLAIFF28), May 13-17, 2026, in Austin, TX, USA. Showcasing storytelling rooted in the vibrant cultures of Latine/x, Indigenous, Latin American, and Ibero-American communities, the festival features narratives, documentaries, shorts, music videos, and the beloved Hecho en Tejas showcase. Discover new voices, connect with filmmakers, and step into a community shaped by nearly three decades of cinema, culture, and creative exchange!

CLAIFF’s conference also returns on May 16, building on a successful inaugural year. The conference welcomes filmmakers and film enthusiasts, creating space to share knowledge, build networks, and affirm the expanding presence of Latine/x and Indigenous voices in the film industry.

Alongside, we’re proud to host a special event dedicated solely to celebrating filmmakers under the age of 19, the 2nd annual Emergente Youth International Film Festival (May 23, 2026)!

Opening Night Announcement

We are honored to open this year’s festival with the Austin premiere of American Pachuco: The Legend of Luis Valdez, directed by David Alvarado.

Winner of the 2026 Sundance Audience Award for Best U.S. Documentary, the film celebrates the life and legacy of Luis Valdez, a foundational voice in the Chicano Movement, tracing his journey from the farmworker movement to the stage and screen, and illuminating how his storytelling gave voice to Chicano culture and political struggle through beloved works like Zoot Suit and La Bamba.
