Synopsis
Widely regarded as one of the greatest Spanish films of all time and celebrating its 50th anniversary, THE SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE is Víctor Erice’s spectacular look at monsters, real and imagined, as seen through the wide-eyed wonder of a child (the arresting Ana Torrent) captivated by the sight of FRANKENSTEIN at a traveling movie show in the wake of the Spanish Civil War.
This screening is presented in partnership with Austin Film Society. Founded in 1985 by filmmaker Richard Linklater, AFS creates life-changing opportunities for filmmakers, catalyzes Austin and Texas as a creative hub, and brings the community together around great film. AFS supports filmmakers towards career leaps, encouraging exceptional artistic projects with grants and support services.
