Virginia Novello is a Mexican-Italian actress, writer, and director whose work bridges continents and cultures, blending a deep-rooted love for theater with an evolving career in independent film and screenwriting. Born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, Novello began performing on stage from a young age, cultivating a lifelong devotion to storytelling through performance. At 19, she moved to Los Angeles to study acting for film, an experience that marked the beginning of a multi-faceted career in front of and behind the camera.
Initially drawn to the performative side of cinema, Novello’s trajectory shifted as she became increasingly invested in the power of narrative control and authorship. About 15 years ago, she wrote her first short film—a turning point that sparked her passion for creating original work. Since then, she has written and produced a range of projects, including short films, commercials, stage plays, and television pilots, including commissions for Viacom. Among her directorial efforts is Sueños Rotos, a short documentary that aired during the 2014 World Cup across Mexico and Latin America, and Gone, a film that has since been adopted by Fundación PAS as an educational tool to raise awareness about sexual abuse.
Now based in Los Angeles, Novello remains active in both the U.S. and Mexican entertainment industries. As she continues to write, direct, and act, her work reflects an ongoing commitment to challenging industry norms, elevating underrepresented perspectives, and creating art that resonates across cultures and communities.
