Cine Las Americas is proud to partner with Austin Film Society to help bring Latine/x and Indigenous cinema to Austin audiences year-round. This summer’s collaboration features a curated lineup of acclaimed films, filmmaker Q&As, and exclusive perks for Cine Las Americas members. Together, we’re creating more opportunities for audiences to discover diverse stories beyond festival season.

ADMISSION:
$14 evening / $11.50 matinee (available M-F for shows before 5 PM)
$4 discounts for CLA members and AFS members. (Email cine@cinelasamericas.org for your code.) Discounts for AISD educators and local high school & college students are available at the box office with a valid school ID.

Through archival footage, interviews, and newly staged happenings, this documentary traces the story of a radical Chicano art cooperative that merged activism with art and identity in 1970s Los Angeles, and that still inspires movements today.

AMERICAN PACHUCO: THE LEGEND OF LUIS VALDEZ

Playwright and filmmaker Luis Valdez brought the Chicano experience into the American cultural mainstream through Zoot Suit and La Bamba. His own story, told here by documentarian David Alvarado, is every bit as dramatic as his work.
