With the approaching death of his father, the village post officer, a reluctant Oscar returns to Mexico and finds that he is now the only man among the handful of women who live in this small town that has never had a telephone or internet. As he impatiently waits to return to the United States, he takes charge of the mail and learns the stories and desires of the inhabitants, among them a little boy who asks for his father’s letters. Moved, Oscar writes him the longed-for letters and begins to bond with him and Martha, his mother.
