Step into the vibrant world of CineClub MX, a film series that celebrates the bold and dynamic spirit of new Mexican cinema. Presented by Cine Las Americas in collaboration with Malakita Producciones and Violet Crown, this month’s screening features Coraje, a poignant farewell to the legendary Mexican actress Marta Aura in her final performance. Directed and written by her son Rubén Rojo Aura, this intimate film is inspired by Marta’s real life, offering a poignant exploration of family dynamics and the emotional complexities of aging.

Synopsis
Alma is a 76-year-old actress who is slowly going blind and fears losing her place in the theatre company where she works. Alejandro, her 54-year-old son, in an attempt to recover from alcoholism, returns home to her after spending several years in Madrid. The crisis experienced by each character will lead them to recognize themselves as mother and son. A work of fiction based on the director’s family. A sensitive drama in which the acting challenge lies in the characters interpreting themselves.
Starring Marta Aura (1942–2022), a distinguished Mexican actress known for her significant contributions to theater, film, and telenovelas. She worked with renowned directors such as Arturo Ripstein, Alfonso Arau, and Alfonso Cuarón. Her final film appearance was in Coraje, for which she received the Mezcal Award for Best Actress at the Guadalajara International Film Festival
