After losing her father at an early age, Tina Duran explores the rich history of her father, the story of her ancestors who migrated from Mexico to the United States, and the implications the Vietnam War had on her community.

Director’s Bio

Born in Chile, Andrés Gallegos discovered his passion for films at an early stage of his life. In 2008, he graduated with a degree in audio-visual communications at Uniacc, in Santiago de Chile. Andrés was awarded Best Cinematography at Fesancor (Santiago Short Film Festival) Festival for Axion, when he was just twenty-two years old. Andrés was awarded by the National Audiovisual fund of Chile to study for a Masters degree. Andrés moved to California to earn his MFA in Cinema at San Francisco State University, where he graduated and received the Graduate Award for Distinguished Achievement. He has made two fiction films and six short documentaries as a director; and has shot more than 30 short films and six feature films as a cinematographer. In 2016, he has worked as a cinematographer on the documentary feature “The American War”, directed by Daniel Bernardi. During 2017, he directed three short documentaries and one narrative short film. In 2018, he shot five shorts and one feature, traveling to France, Belgium, Hawaii, New York, and Pennsylvania. He went to Israel to shoot “Objector”, a feature documentary directed by Molly Stuart. During his stay, he directed a short documentary titled “Guy Hircefeld: A Guy with a Camera”, the story of an ex Israeli soldier who now fights against the occupation. In 2019 he received the Best Cinematographer Award at the Oakland Short Film Festival. He also has been nominated for the ASC (American Society of Cinematographers) Heritage Awards for his cinematography work on the film Shoe Shiner. His work has screened at Cannes, Raindance, Málaga, Mill Valley, Valdivia and more.
