In 1958, Gregorio Rivera presents himself to Fidel Castro’s troops in Cuba’s Sierra Maestra to fight against Fulgencio Batista’s dictatorship. Known for his work as a photographer, he is ordered to fight alongside the rebel army not with a weapon, but with his camera. In AÑOS DE LUZ, “Goyo” revisits the archive of images of the Revolution to tell his story, fighting now against his fading memory. At the Amazonas Film Festival in 2013, AÑOS DE LUZ won the award for Best Documentary Short, Best Director, and Best Cinematography.
