Joaquin is a driving instructor who has been living and working in East Los Angeles for years. On the side, he also teaches illegal immigrants how to drive. Yet, one day, after a driving lesson with Nayeli, a new student whose dreams particularly catch Joaquin’s attention, Vazquez, a HSI agent who has been on his trail for some time, shows up at Joaquin’s door. He must help Vazquez arrest Lalo during their next drop-off, or else he will be locked away for good. Joaquin must decide whether to save himself or give up the immigrants he has been helping, including Nayeli, whom he cares about more than he thought he would. This AFI thesis film has screened in Latino festivals around the country, including the San Diego and Chicago Latino Film Festivals.
