1862: The invincible French army of Napoleon III invades Mexico to install a monarchy along with Mexican conservatives, with the ultimate goal of invading the United States in order to join the Confederate Army in the American Civil War.

General Ignacio Zaragoza prepares the defense of the homeland in the city of Puebla, commanding an inexperienced army, outnumbered and poorly armed. During the months leading to the decisive battle, a love affair blooms between Juan and Citlali, two humble Mexicans who join the battle in a seemingly impossible mission.

 

1862: El invencible ejército francés de Napoleón III invade México para instaurar una monarquía junto con los conservadores mexicanos, y con la finalidad de invadir Estados Unidos para unirse al Ejército Confederado del Sur en la Guerra Civil Norteamericana.

El General Ignacio Zaragoza prepara la defensa de la patria en la ciudad de Puebla, al mando de un ejército inexperto, inferior en número y pobremente armado. Durante los meses previos a la batalla decisiva surge el amor entre Juan y Citlali, dos humildes mexicanos que se unen a la defensa, una misión que parece imposible.

 

About The Director

Rafa-Lara

Rafael Lara began his career as film director, TV and advertising when he was 22 years old. In the US, he was the creator of the series AL FILO DE LA LEY, the first Latino mini-series realized under the same standards as the mainstream American series.
LA MILAGROSA (Colombia, 2008) was his first feature, an action film situated around the kidnappings perpetuated by the Colombian guerrillas. EL QUINTO MANDAMIENTO (Mexico, 2010), a psychological thriller that tells the story of a young lonely serial killer of adolescent girls, the film dwells in the polemic issue of child abuse in the Catholic Church. LABIOS ROJOS (mexico, 2011) is a romantic comedy that became one of the most successful Mexican films upon its release.
In all of his films, Rafa Lara has worked as Director, Screenwriter, Producer and Editor.
