Seventeen-year-old Roberto Rodríguez is fat and nerdy, wears glasses, and always dresses in black. He escapes reality by writing and drawing comics through which he describes his pathetic existence, always with the company of his two best friends, “Condoro,” the psychopath, and “Papitas,” the freak. But his life changes radically when Cristina, the new girl in school, arrives from Spain and stirs up Roberto’s hormones. Promedio rojo combines cartoon animation with reality, creating a world in which superheroes as well as grandparents play a part. The film was awarded Special Jury Prize at Viña del Mar in 2004.
