Nikkei is a documentary about the identity of the Japanese who migrated to Latin America. It is the story of the director's grandparents, their trip from Japan to Peru, the media campaign against their race, World War II and the hope for a better life in Venezuela. Nikkei recently premiered at the Guadalajara International Film Festival.

Kaori Flores Yonekura's father is Venezuelan and her mother is Japanese. She was born in Mérida, Venezuela, and at age 22 graduated from the International School of Film and TV of San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba (EICTV). She has dedicated her work to human rights, popular culture, indigenous people and identity.
