Ana Rieper

Brazil, Music Documentary, 201178 min, HDV, ColorPortuguese with English subtitles

Vou Rifar Meu Coração is about the music, the performers and the followers of Brazilian romantic music, called "cheesy" by music critics and rich people. Using the music as a catalyst, this documentary shows the sentiments, love, suffering and sexuality of the fans and their idols, creating a scenario that reveals their practices and desires. This genre represents a very important part of popular art, seldom registered as part of Brazilian Popular Music. Most books about Brazilian music solemnly ignore it, even though it has always sold millions of records. Frequently associated with bad taste and poor quality, the style is admired by the low class, under-, sub- or unemployed population, originally from rural extract, banished to the cities in search of work and a better life. This film has played around the world, including the 44th Festival de Brasilia.
