Go For It!

Carmen Marron

USA, Drama/Coming-of-Age, 2011
83 min, Digital, Color
English

Carmen, a 19 year-old student raised in inner-city Chicago, is trying to find her identity. She spends most of her time in underground clubs enjoying her true passion: dance. Afraid to believe in herself, and not receiving much support from her parents, she is challenged by her professor to audition for a formal dance school in California. While confronting these and other obstacles, she also encounters the biggest chance of her life. Go For It! was inspired by the director's experiences as a street dancer growing up in Chicago, and serves as hopeful inspiration for urban youth to believe in their inner-strength and follow their dreams. Winner of the Audience Award at the 2010 Chicago International Film Festival.
